With us knowing how many redirect viruses there are on the wild wild internet, reporting on how to remove the V9 Redirect Virus seems a bit trivial but we know it has recently grown into a major annoyance for many computer users around the world. The V9 Redirect Virus or what some may simply describe as their web browsers being redirected to the V9.com site repeatedly as it is set as their new default home page and search engine site.
We dove directly into the make-up of the V9 Redirect Virus and V9.com site and found that it is not an actual computer virus but a program comprised of many different components that find their way into your web browser applications. The web browsers that we noticed V9.com mainly effecting where Google Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer. The reasons as to how the V9 Redirect Virus or V9.com components get installed on a Windows PC is through the download of other applications from the internet. Many of the download site sources are legitimate places to obtain free and shareware applications. Although, many of these sites have deals with companies who intentionally install toolbars and add-ons like the V9.com components that commonly redirect your home page to their “promoted” site.
We say it is a “promoted” site because we suspect that the V9.com page had some dealings with other software vendors to offer their V9.com generic search engine and site features bundled with downloads. In our case we noticed an unnamed software download using its installer app to load the V9 Redirect Virus or V9.com extensions in our Google Chrome and Internet Explorer browsers. We were able to change some of our internet settings by simply disabling the V9 extensions.
PC users affected with V9 redirects and the automatic loading (redirection) of V9.com can too remove it by finding all related files and deleting each one. This also includes all of the web browser add-ons and extensions. Automatic removal of the V9 Redirect Virus (V9.com/us) components and any related programs can be done using an antimalware download for those who may not want to venture into finding all V9 files embedded in different locations on your hard drive.
